Times Alex Trebek was rude to Jeopardy contestants

In a February 2010 episode of Jeopardy!, contestant Lindsay Eanet from Deerfield, Ill. was very happy to inform Alex Trebek why she was pursuing a profession in music journalism. And Alex Trebek was very happy to undermine her projected profession path.

Trebek started by grilling Eanet with, “Your main is journalism, and also you selected journalism due to a film?” Eanet nodded, including, “That’s proper, Alex. I selected journalism as a freshman in highschool. I watched the film Almost Famous and simply fell in love with it and I wished to do what William Miller did within the film.” Trebek requested, “And what did he do?” Perhaps a bit perplexed, Eanet responded, “Uh, wrote about music and adopted bands.”

“He adopted a rock band,” Trebek emphasised. “So you wanna be a groupie, in different phrases?” Eanet replied, “I would not put it fairly like that, however I believe … seeing what that way of life is like, I believe that will be very attention-grabbing.” After a beat, Trebek regarded into the digital camera and provided his last evaluation: “She desires to be a groupie.”

Many viewers did not discover the change amusing. For instance, The L Magazine determined that “Alex Trebek Hates Women.” Recalling the episode in an interview with the fan-created J! Archive, Eanet did not sound too happy, both: “Why is each lady with an lively curiosity in music and the rock ‘n’ roll way of life routinely a groupie? Why cannot I be a rockstar?”
